This course includes the science of making money while working with the government. It includes computer literacy, getting certified and bonded as well as networking, communication and documentation.

John Benjamin
John Benjamin has delivered training to a variety of companies and organizations in finance, project management, operations, successful leadership, crucial data decision making, critical thinking and problem solving. In addition to professor, trainer and international business coach – John spent several years as a project manager for both Woodward and GE, where John’s projects ranged from small hydropower plants to large gas turbine power plants. John has 30 years of experience leading teams as a project manager, sales manager, Global Product Manager, International General Manager, International Field Engineer and US Navy Nuclear Submariner.
Elly Bacon
Elly Bacon is the Assistant Director of the Division of Small Business Opportunity (DSBO) where she oversees the socially and/or economically disadvantaged certification and strategic development programs. Bacon has more than 15 years of experience building & delivering new and existing community programs to support women owned businesses in both the public and private arenas.
Prior to joining DSBO, she was the Director of Community Development & Engagement for the Women’s Business Enterprise Council West, part of a National organization, that worked on connecting women owned businesses to the global economy through advocating for procurement opportunities, certification programs, and strategic partnerships.
HCC Contractor Academy has formed a strategic partnership with Front Range Community College to offer college-level courses at a fraction of the cost.
You’ll learn from seasoned instructors in an industry-graduate training program designed specifically for HCC Contractor Academy. These aren’t your typical one-off training classes. These courses are developed and taught by construction industry experts and cover topics that are critical to the growth and sustainability of contractors in Colorado. If you want to play with the big dogs, you need to learn from the best—and that means attending these courses!
This course is part of a series of 11 courses. The first five courses were offered in the spring of 2022, and the remaining six courses are being offered in the fall of 2022.
Thanks to a generous Skill Advance Colorado Job Training Grant as well as a sponsorship from the City and County of Denver Division of Small Business Opportunity (DSBO), each eight-hour course will be $150 and each four-hour course will be $100 (regularly $200).
