Christine Mortenson

GH Phipps

Christine’s love of construction developed when she was young; helping her dad and uncle. Together, they built everything from garages, sheds and homes for their families.

She started her construction career at a commercial plumbing company in Broomfield, CO. She held various roles including office manager, project coordinator, and project manager/estimator. As her career progressed, she developed and implemented full- scale residential service and commercial tenant improvement divisions.

As her knowledge of the construction industry continued, she worked for a specialty low-voltage contractor that installed Nurse-call, life safety, security and A/V systems throughout the Rocky Mountain region. Working closely with executive management, she oversaw company-wide HR programs such payroll, training, compensation plans, performance, safety/OSHA compliance, Federal EEO/OFCCP, Workers’ Compensation, business compliance and fleet management. Her current role, Human Resources Manager, at GH Phipps Construction Companies has allowed her to grow her career and passion for construction even further. Christine is heavily involved with the GH Phipps outreach program and works with organizations state-wide.

Her professional association with the City and County of Denver, Construction Careers Program, Denver Economic Development Opportunity, AGC of Colorado, outreach with MWBE contractors, HCC events, and Construction Girl allows her to focus on promoting the trades as a career path for today’s youth. The involvement she has with these organizations keep her excited to be in the ever changing and growing construction industry!

She currently is the Co-Chair for the Women of Phipps and is on the Customer Experience Certificate Program Advisory Board at University of Colorado, Leeds School of Business.

HCC Contractor Academy has formed a strategic partnership with Front Range Community College to offer college-level courses at a fraction of the cost.

You’ll learn from seasoned instructors in an industry-graduate training program designed specifically for HCC Contractor Academy. These aren’t your typical one-off training classes. These courses are developed and taught by construction industry experts and cover topics that are critical to the growth and sustainability of contractors in Colorado. If you want to play with the big dogs, you need to learn from the best—and that means attending these courses!

This course is part of a series of 11 courses. The first five courses were offered in the spring of 2022, and the remaining six courses are being offered in the fall of 2022.

Thanks to a generous Skill Advance Colorado Job Training Grant as well as a sponsorship from the City and County of Denver Division of Small Business Opportunity (DSBO), each eight-hour course will be $150 and each four-hour course will be $100 (regularly $200).

Construction and construction-related service businesses are eligible to receive a scholarship for an additional 50% off course fees. Contact Lynn Vosler at 970-214-3362 or for more information.
